Call off the search for your next staycation because the 90s called and they’ve got the perfect place – if you’re a Spice Girls fan, that is. The original Union Jack bus from the Spice World movie is now available to rent on Airbnb and it’s the ultimate pop star fantasy come to life.
Suzanne Godley, a self-professed ‘mega-fan’ of the iconic girl group and their 1997 film, has overhauled the interior of the bus, and it’s a fabulous frenzy of millennial pink, animal print and signature ‘Girl Power’ touches.
Speaking to Press Association, she explained: ‘The Spice Girls were my childhood obsession. My parents were subjected to my tone-deaf performances as Baby Spice, and I must have watched the Spice World movie hundreds of times. And while I have grown up over the years, I don’t think I’ve ever grown out of my love for them.’
‘When my boss mentioned that he was considering buying the Spice Bus I was desperate to be a part of its renovation,’ she continued.
‘We’ve worked hard over the past few months to turn the bus into a home, in keeping with its legacy, and I’m so excited to open it up to the public with the support of Airbnb. Being part of this project has been like a dream come true and I can’t wait to meet other Spice Girls fans through this experience.’
‘Whether travelling to a new city or re-discovering a familiar destination, Airbnb is all about helping people find unique and unforgettable travel experiences,’ added Hadi Moussa, General Manager for Northern Europe at Airbnb.
‘Being one of the first people in the world to stay in the iconic Spice Bus is a dream come true for any fan and a once in a lifetime way to spend time with friends or family.’
The transformation marks the first time ever that fans have been able to stay on the double-decker Spice Bus, which sleeps up to three guests, with two sharing a double bed and one on a single day bed.
‘The driver’s seat remains at the front of the bus – sadly no Meatloaf!’ the listing explains. ‘Towards the back of the bus there’s a spacious seating area with a table and three Union Jack cinema-style chairs for relaxing in front of the TV or listening to Wannabe on repeat on the old school CD player.’
The bus, which will be parked up at Wembley Park in London, obviously sounds amazing, but you’ll have to face some fierce competition to secure a stay.
It’s only available to rent on June 14th and 15th, to coincide with the Spice Girls reunion tour dates at Wembley stadium, so you’ll need to move lightning fast when booking opens on 22 May.
