According to Renée Zellweger, who plays the one an only Bridget Jones, a new film could be on the cards and we could not be happier to hear it.

In an interview with Australian talk show The Project, while promoting her recent film Judy, Renée was asked if she would be open to continuing the beloved franchise, to which she responded: ‘Oh, gosh, yeah, wouldn’t that be fun?’

She continued: ‘It’s really the best job, it really is. So much weirder than folks can imagine from the outside.’

She even recently suggested a name for it, joking on CBS show The Talk, that is could be called, ‘Bridget Jones: The Menopause.’ Imagine!

This is not the first time the actress has shown interest in reprising her role one more time. Back in May, during an interview on ITV’s Lorraine, the 50-year-old actress surprised fans when she revealed that a fourth feature of the Bridget Jones series in the works and admitted that author Helen Fielding has already written the next book.

When questions about the rumours of the new film, Zellweger said: ‘I don’t know. I know Helen’s written the book. It means there’s a possibility.’

In the third film, which was released in 2016 – 12 years after the second film, we saw Bridget torn between the two loves of her life – Mark Darcy, played by Colin Firth, and Daniel Cleaver, played by Hugh Grant. She also had a steamy one night stand with a new character, an American tech mogul played by Patrick Dempsey. Oh, and as the title of the film suggests, she had a baby.

However, one of the biggest highlights of Bridget Jones’s Baby has got to be the iconic funeral scene following Daniel’s abrupt death – a last-minute change the producers pulled off after Hugh Grant reportedly quit the movie halfway through filming.

No other details regarding the fourth Bridget Jones film have been announced just yet, but we will certainly be keeping an ear out for any updates along the way.
