A before-and-after skin transformation has gone viral after a Reddit forum user shared the story of a product which transformed her best friend’s eczema in just three days.
‘This is about my best friend, not me, posting with her permission,’ the poster, who writes under the name X111jrp, explained. ‘[She] has suffered with extremely irritating and painful eczema all over her face and body for 27 years. She has tried countless creams and had numerous doctor visits about it.’
‘I gave her half a bottle of The Ordinary Glycolic Acid 7% and one of the large CeraVe moisturisers in the tub. She used both every morning and evening for 3 days and her skin is the best it’s ever looked!’
The rest of the thread was full of compliments about the impressive change, with one declaring: ‘I can’t imagine the relief the girl is feeling.’
‘As someone with recurring eczema on my face, seeing this is total goals! I’m so happy (and envious) of her!’ a second exclaimed, while a third said: ‘Oh wowww!! What an improvement! So impressive! I bet she feels ecstatic!’
One commenter pointed out: ‘I’m willing to bet the improvement is from the CeraVe alone because eczema skin has been shown to be lacking ceramides, which the CeraVe contains. In fact I think she would have more improvement by reducing the frequency of the Glycolic Acid. Twice a day is a lot even for people who are very used to acids.’
CeraVe is renowned for producing nourishing, broad-spectrum cleansers and moisturisers for a range of skin types, including very dry and very sensitive skin. The moisturiser in the tub in question is non-comedogenic, so it won’t clog pores, but instead uses hyaluronic acid and three essential ceramides to deliver a regular, intense dose of moisture to parched skin.
The Ordinary’s toning solution, on the other hand, is a once-a-day treatment, designed to exfoliate and refine the skin to leave a brightened complexion. ‘I’ve recommended the same thing to her already about only using the acid at night, thanks for the info about the cerave!’ X111jrp agreed in response to the comment.
The woman in the picture isn’t alone in finding CeraVe beneficial – other eczema sufferers are already converts to the dermatologically-tested product range, with one writing on the Boots website: ‘I have moderate eczema and no creams were working for me, I was being kept up at night with itchy skin. I’ve only been using this cream for just short of a week and it’s incredible – totally cleared up my eczema and I can finally sleep through.’
Another referred to it as the ‘holy grail’ for their eczema, explaining: ‘I went through a terrible steroid withdrawal 2 years ago where my eczema became so unmanageable I had to call in sick to work. I started using CeraVe moisturising cream during this time, and honestly this product restored my skin.’
‘In the past 2 years, I’ve had no more flare ups, my skin is incredibly soft and even, virtually flake free, and is less prone to being itchy through dryness. I cannot recommend this product enough if you’re an eczema sufferer with dry and sensitive skin.’
