Celebrity skincare routines can often be overwhelmingly complicated, so it’s refreshing when a famous face reveals that they actually prefer simple products that don’t cost the earth – like the lovely Prue Leith, for example.
The Great British Bake Off judge, and recent YOU cover star (don’t miss her fabulous festive recipes) recently revealed that there’s just one moisturiser that she swears by, and it costs just over £2 for a 50g tube. A woman after our own budget-conscious hearts.
Speaking to The Telegraph‘s Stella magazine, Prue, 79, declared E45’s simple yet effective cream to be ‘the only beauty thing I buy: a good old-fashioned moisturiser.’
And although it may not be flashy, Prue’s chosen balm is something of a multi-purpose wonder, suitable for use on even the most sensitive skin, and with the ability to treat conditions such as eczema, dermatitis and psoriasis.
Customers on the Boots website, where it’s priced at just £2.35 (and currently on a buy one get one half price deal, if you’re the type that likes to stock up) say it’s become a staple in their daily routines thanks to its incredibly soothing properties.
‘I literally worship this stuff, it’s like a miracle cream,’ wrote one. ‘It works on flaky skin, dry hands and I have scarring on my face due to acne and this takes away all the dryness and helps 100%!’
Prue didn’t specify whether she uses her pot on her face or just as a general everyday balm, but one thing’s for sure – if the cold weather’s been giving your skin a tough time, it could be the inexpensive solution you’ve been searching for.
