Quilted jackets have been a firm fashion favourite for the past few seasons, and now the trend has a new iteration that’s perfect for spring. While winter was all about khaki, black or neutral quilted jackets in solid colours, now they’re coming in vibrant prints, from pretty florals to folksy patchwork, and we are totally here for it.
One jacket that’s caused a stir on social media is Albaray’s patchwork print jacket – lots of stylish Instagrammers snapped this at press previews and declared it the jacket of the season. At £129 it’s an investment piece, but one that you’ll get plenty of wear out of, given that it’s the type of lightweight layer we reach for again and again in spring and autumn.
Albaray was launched this time last year by a trio of talented women and offers eco-conscious, interesting designs – well worth checking out for your summer wardrobe.
Another brilliant brand, KITRI, told us that it’s quilted jacket (above) sold out quickly when it first went on sale this spring – it’s now available to pre-order if you missed out first time round.
The high street also has a good selection of printed quilted jackets, ranging from Pink City Prints’ gorgeous handprinted takes to a cute, longline number from Laura Ashley at Next.
As for styling, a trophy jacket like this is ideal for jazzing up simple outfits – think jeans or black trousers, plus a plain T-shirt or pretty white blouse. Alternatively, sling over summer dresses for a bold and stylish look.
