Primark is a fairly-priced marvel for everything from office wear to holiday wardrobes – but one word you wouldn’t often associate with it is luxe. That was, until the store unveiled designs for its new Limited Edition collection.
Not only does the edit tap into more A/W 19 trends than you can count on both hands (including but not limited to puff sleeves, oversized headbands, belt bags, satisfyingly stompy boots, midi dresses and embellishments galore), it looks like it’s straight off the catwalk of a major designer name.
Available exclusively in selected Primary stores from 19th November, the brand describes the line as ’10 fashion-forward looks that exude a dark romance’. Winter florals and pussybow necklines are key, but they’d toughened up with contrasting materials like PU or a chunky trainer.
But while the standards are high, the cost isn’t – Primark is sticking to its affordable roots and so they start at £4 for accessories like belts, rising to £40 for a coat.
The collection is brought to life in a campaign shot by Irish portrait photographer Rich Gilligan, who says: ‘I was interested in bringing a sense of my own personal work to this project.
‘My photographic background stems from quite a raw documentary angle so this was on my mind…I worked as a skateboard photographer for years so shooting in a cold, empty, industrial setting felt really natural for me and it fit perfectly.’
As Primark hasn’t yet, much to our eternal disappointment, ventured into the world online shopping, you’ll have to head to stores in person next Tuesday when Limited Edition drops.
In the meantime, here are just a few pieces to add to your wishlist.
