Pretty Woman is one of the most iconic romantic comedies of all time, not to mention one of the films responsible for cementing Julia Roberts’ status as Hollywood royalty, so it’s no wonder the movie has a cult following. And now, the 1990 classic is coming to London’s West End.
That’s right, Pretty Woman: The Musical will finally make its way to the UK early next year after debuting on Broadway in 2018, and tickets are already on sale.
The musical, which follows the same story of a Los Angeles sex worker Vivian (played by Roberts) who falls for her wealthy business client Edward (Richard Gere) will launch in the UK on 14 February 2020, following a successful run in the US. And guess what? Tickets are on sale now.
The show, which will run until 29 February 2021, will feature music co-written by Bryan Adams, who was also behind the tracks in the original Broadway hit. It will be directed and choreographed by Jerry Mitchell, who’s credentials include working on famous Broadway shows Kinky Boots and Legally Blonde However, the cast for the UK version has yet to be announced.
Speaking to Press Association Adams said: ‘I know it’s going to Germany this year, it opens in September this year, and then it’s going to London next year. I’m excited about it’. So are we Bryan, so are we!
As you can imagine, the show is set to be popular – especially as it launches at London’s Piccadilly Theatre on Valentine’s Day. So make sure you get your hands on a pair while you can, whether you’re treating a friend or snapping them up for yourself.
And if you have any reservations about how it’ll stand up to the film, don’t panic: the show has already received a host of stellar reviews in the US so we’re expecting the same reception, if not better, here in the UK.
