Pret has brought back its iconic Christmas sandwich for July

For most of us, Christmas 2020 didn’t quite go to plan. With last-minute lockdown restrictions put in place, we weren’t able to celebrate with our loved ones in the way we had hoped. Not only did we miss out on our usual festivities, but we weren’t always able to get our hands on our favourite Christmas food from shops – the iconic Pret Christmas sandwich, for one.

Gone were the days we would have excitedly nipped out of the office on our lunch break to grab a Pret Christmas sandwich. But worry not, the cafe chain realised how much customers missed the festive food and has decided to bring it back this summer for one month only.

Yep, that’s right. We thought Aldi would be the only brand celebrating Christmas this summer, but now Pret has jumped on the ‘Christmas in summer’ bandwagon, too. After seeing the huge number of tweets and comments on social media from customers about how much they missed the Christmas sandwich, Pret made the decision to return it to the shelves for those who didn’t get to enjoy it last year.

If you haven’t had a Pret Christmas sandwich before, this could be the perfect time to try it. It contains turkey with a port and orange cranberry sauce and pork and herb stuffing expertly layered in between two slices of thick, soft bread. Oh, and there’s also some baby spinach, mayonnaise and crispy onions thrown in for extra flavour.

To really up the ante on those festive feels, Pret teamed up with Slade frontman Noddy Holder for the launch. Noddy, who sings the ‘Merry Christmas Everybody’ smash hit, stars in a video to promote the return of the Christmas sandwich. He’s also standing in Pret’s 182 Wardour Street Store in London from 11am today (6 July) to hand out 100 festive sarnies to lucky customers.

For those who aren’t able to get to the store today, you will find the Christmas sandwich on Pret shelves for the whole of July. While we don’t want to wish the summer away, we can’t help but be tempted by those satisfying festive flavours…
