Polka dot dresses inspired by the Duchess of Cambridge’s timeless style

While most of us were sweating away in the bare minimum of clothing during last Friday’s heatwave, the Duchess of Cambridge was looking chic and gorgeous as ever at Royal Ascot, seemingly taking the record temperatures in her stride.

Kate wore a polka dot dress for the occasion, featuring a high neck and flattering belted shape. It was created by Alessandra Rich, a designer whose dresses the Duchess has worn many times before.

While polka dots have always been a failsafe classic to fall back on – they provide just the right amount of graphic print without going too ‘out there’ – the dotty print has gained even more momentum the last few seasons, helped largely by ‘that’ Zara dress.

Go big and bold with large circles or go pretty with ditsy dots; keep it classic with black or navy and white or go rogue with any colour under the rainbow. Hey, we told you they were versatile.

Want to emulate the Duchess’s style? Here are our favourite polka dot dresses to do just that.
