The Queen has released her own emojis

The Queen has often been praised for having a great sense of humour – a quality which has no doubt helped to carry her through the more trying moments of her 70-year reign.

Now, as we approach Hey Majesty’s Platinum Jubilee, this is evident again, with the royal family releasing a range of fun gifs on Instagram, including a cute winking corgi, a sparkling royal crown and a bearskin-wearing guardsman taking afternoon tea with a horse.

Okay, so the Queen probably didn’t sit down and plan these stickers herself, but they certainly reflect the more humorous side of the monarchy, and were released by the official @theroyalfamily social media accounts to help us all celebrate the special occasion.

‘With exactly a week to go until The Queen’s Platinum Jubilee celebrations begin in earnest with the spectacular Trooping the Colour, we’re launching some social media tools to help you share your Jubilee celebrations in style here on Instagram’ they posted.

To use the stickers, you just have to click ‘GIF’ when creating an Instagram story and then search @theroyalfamily for all the options to pop up.

There’s also a new filter which allows you to try on a crown for size – visit the Royal Family’s Instagram page to give it a try.

Twitter users will get to use Platinum Jubilee emojis too – ‘PJ’ the corgi will appear for anyone who tweets the hashtags #PlatinumJubilee, #HM70, #PlatinumPartyatthePalace, #PlatinumJubileePageant or #TheBigJubileeLunch.

The Queen’s love of dogs is well documented, and she was given her very first corgi Susan in 1944 by her parents for her 18th birthday. The 96-year-old now has two corgi puppies and dorgi Candy, a cross between a corgi and a dachshund, and is known to enjoy going for a daily walk with them
