Now that the government has officially confirmed we can spend unlimited time outside – and the weather has turned irresistibly warm – our minds have quickly turned to that quintessentially classic British pastime: picnics.
A summer in Britain isn’t complete until you’ve spent an afternoon lounging on a blanket in a park, nibbling on tasty treats and sipping wine while batting away wasps, dodging flying footballs and flicking ants off the cheese. Ahh, what a picture… But frankly, we’ll do anything to get out of the house right now, so we’ll take all the wasps and ants if it means an afternoon of sunning ourselves in the grassy outdoors (only with people from our own household, of course, or with one other person at a safe 2 metre distance).
And so a socially distanced picnic it is – but what to take with you? To create a picture perfect picnic, you’ll need a basket, blanket, plates, bowls, cutlery and glasses. Lucky for you, we’ve taken on the arduous task of rounding up the best of each, leaving you to simply ‘add to basket’ and enjoy your picnic.
