Rarely has an event been quite as eagerly anticipated as the arrival of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s first royal baby. The couple’s child, whose birth is expected to be announced imminently, will undoubtedly be one of the most famous people in the world at the earliest age.
But thanks to a recent announcement from Kensington Palace, some followers of the Duke and Duchess of Sussex are saying that the little one is already here – it’s just that their mum and dad haven’t introduced them to us yet.
The clue that’s set the rumours swirling? Prince Harry will be going on a royal visit to the Netherlands on 8 and 9 May next week – which has left fans questioning why he would leave the country if his wife could still go into labour at any time.
‘His Royal Highness will then travel to The Hague to officially launch the one year countdown to the Invictus Games The Hague 2020,’ the palace confirmed.
A royal aide added: ‘He had always planned to go but with the birth of his child due it was not announced in advance in case he was no longer able to attend. He is pleased he is able to attend.’
Meghan and Harry have been very candid about their plans to keep the news about their baby private initially – in a statement released by Buckingham Palace earlier this month, it was revealed that unlike previous royal debuts at the Lindo Wing, the pair ‘have taken a personal decision to keep the plans around the arrival of their baby private.
‘The Duke and Duchess look forward to sharing the exciting news with everyone once they have had an opportunity to celebrate privately as a new family,’ it was explained at the time.
Therefore, it could be simply be that the duo are simply enjoying life with their new baby bubble away from the public eye for as long as they can. Either way, we look forward to hearing from them when they’re ready – in the meantime, you’ll find us taking bets on all of the possible royal baby names…
