Oti Mabuse confirms air date of her new ITV dating show with a sneak peak

While all the Strictly Come Dancing professionals are extraordinarily talented, it’s long been clear that Oti Mabuse has some superstar qualities – so it’s really no surprise she’s been snapped up by ITV.

Oti Mabuse was recently announced as the newest judge on Dancing on Ice. Afterwards, celebrity PR and publicist Harry Rutter told the Metro it’s unlikely she’ll go back to the BBC, as ‘moves like this don’t often happen’.

Now Oti, who has appeared on Strictly since 2015, has also been announced as the host of a new seven-part dating series. It’s called Romeo and Duet, and sounds completely bonkers in all the right ways.

The premise of the show sees one singleton stand on a balcony, while a potential love interest tries to serenade them from below. The twist is that they don’t actually get to see each other’s faces unless the person on the balcony is impressed enough to come down.

Then they have to go away on a ‘duet-date’ where they have to learn a duet, before returning to the studio and competing with other couples in order to be crowned as winners.

We don’t have long to wait for the new show either – the first episode will air on Saturday 16 April at 7pm on ITV – and we even have a sneak peak of the show!

‘I’m so excited to be part of Romeo & Duet,’ Oti said. ‘It’s always been a dream of mine to host so this is a real pinch me moment, and it’s a blessing for me to finally be able to share this news. I honestly can’t wait to get started!’

‘It’s about love with a little bit of a twist and showcase of talent, it’s fresh and fun, and I hope everyone’s going to love it as much as I do.’

Oti also posted her news on Instagram, saying her heart was full of joy and excitement at the prospect of moving into presenting. ‘I can’t even begin to explain how this feels…still can’t believe it’ she said.
