Olaplex is launching a purple shampoo for blondes and greys

Olaplex is the go-to brand for hair that’s dry, damaged or just in need of a little maintenance. What once started as an in-salon treatment has now expanded to include seven take-home products to treat in-need strands from the comfort of your own home — or should we say, shower. And the past few years have seen the brand innovate more than ever; in 2020 they launched their No. 0 Intensive Bond Building Treatment to used alongside the No. 3 Hair Perfector and earlier this year, they launched a No. 8 hair mask. So what more could they add to the range, we hear you ask?

Well, it’s the product blondes and greys have been waiting for: a purple shampoo. Known for their excellent toning effects, purple shampoos neutralise brassy, yellow hues for a cleaner, cooler blonde or grey that’s much more flattering. Over the years there have been some great ones, from Fudge’s to Aveda’s, but Olaplex’s version looks set to break boundaries.

Announced via their Instagram page, the No. 4P (a purple take on their bestselling number four shampoo), promises to neutralise brassiness, brighten your blonde and hydrate and cleanse, all while harnessing the power of Olaplex’s patented bond-building technology.

‘Introducing, the purple shampoo of your dreams,’ the brand wrote. ‘The NEW @OLAPLEX N°.4P BLONDE ENHANCER™ TONING SHAMPOO!’

‘REPAIRS with patented OLAPLEX technology. Cleanses & HYDRATES. Neutralizes brassiness & BRIGHTENS blondes, Sulfate-free for #UnbreakableBlondes’.

The caption also added that, ‘100% of survey respondents stated they would recommend N°.4P to their clients.’

Grey hair will certainly not feel left out either; when one fan asked if the Olaplex purple shampoo was suitable for natural greys too, the brand responded with a resounding ‘yes’ in the comments section.
