This £44 Next dress looks just like a £226 Ganni one

Last month, we spotted a £19.99 H&M dress that looked just like a Ganni one, then Next jumped on the trend with a £40 gingham dress that could also easily pass as a dupe for the designer’s iconic seersucker check print maxi dress and now, just days later, we’ve spotted another Next design that bears a remarkable semblance to the designer’s collared smock dress that was popular in 2020.

With a large statement collar and seersucker bodice, Ganni’s check smock dress was an elevated version of traditional gingham summer dresses and the design proved such a hit last summer that the brand has bought it back for 2021.

While last season’s blue colourway is currently out of stock, Ganni has redesigned it in an all-new black and yellow colourway for this summer.

Of course, £226 isn’t within everyone’s budget which is why we were so pleased to see Next launch a similar check smocked collar dress but at a purse-friendly £44.

The Next iteration comes with a detachable statement collar so you can choose whether to wear it with or without depending on your look.

With a seersucker bodice, statement collar and gingham check print, it’s not difficult to draw similarities between Next’s design and Ganni’s own. The only difference really is in the colour and price.

What’s more, the Next dress is crafted from TENCEL Lyocell, a fibre that is responsibly sourced and produced in an environmentally responsible closed-loop production process that means more than 99 per cent of the solvents used are recovered and reused.

Eco-concious and on-trend? We’re sold.
