Marks & Spencer’s sellout denim dress is back for a second year

There are some items that Marks & Spencer can’t seem to keep in stock, many of which solidify the brand’s status as an unexpectedly modern, cool destination to shop for fashion. Case in point: their excellent denim dress, which is the ultimate proof that M&S offers way more than Percy Pigs and Colin the Caterpillar.

This is not the first time we have seen this design; in fact, the Denim Mini Shirt Dress was first introduced to us last year, and unsurprisingly, M&S couldn’t stop from flying off the rails. They announced the return of the style on their Instagram, proving just how momentous of occasions it truly is:

‘Our sellout denim mini is back for another year. Be quick, as this made-for-layering dress won’t hang around for long,’ read the caption.

So why exactly should you be so excited about this one denim dress over the others on the high street?

Well first off, there are plenty of practicalities that make this a 2020 bestseller in the making. First, it’s £49.50, despite looking far more luxe and expensive than its under-£50 price tag.

Then there’s the sizing options; like most things at M&S, the dress comes in a range of sizes to suit all body shapes, from 6-24 – far more inclusive than most offerings you’ll find in the shops.

Last up, the most obvious reason: the styling possibilities of this super cute-design. The dress was hailed last year as the ultimate trans-seasonal piece, as it works so well when layered. As the weather now is still currently fairly warm, you could easily get away with wearing this as it is — after all, while your legs will be exposed, your arms will be kept warm.

However, give it a few weeks and you may feel a little bit chilly without some extra layers, but you can easily throw a roll neck or jersey top underneath, along with some chic ankle boots and socks to keep you warm. This look will make sure you’re nice and toasty, but without compromising on style.

As M&S noted, this dress was a sellout style last year so is likely to go down the same route this year. For this reason, we recommend snapping one up ASAP.
