To help you get inspired, a new survey has revealed the number one place in the UK for loved up couples, naming the Lake District as the most romantic and quite frankly, we’re not surprised.

With breathtaking mountain views, an incredible 10.5-mile lake and two adorable towns, (Bowness and Windermere) to explore, it is no wonder this popular location has earned the top spot. It is the ultimate place for a romantic escape with zero distractions and peak relaxation.

The survey was conducted by Premier Inn and polled 2,000 people, with the majority agreeing on the Lake District as the most idyllic. However, it was closely followed by other enticing locations such as the traditional Cotswolds villages of Bourton-on-the-water and Stratford-upon-Avon as well as Dorset’s Durdle Door.

Two Scottish destinations also made the top ten most romantic list with entries for the beautiful Arthur’s Seat and Loch Lomond.

Simon Ewins, managing director for Premier Inn UK,  commented on the survery results, saying: ‘In the lead up to Valentine’s Day it’s great to celebrate what we have on our doorstep. The UK clearly has lots of romantic destinations for days out or weekends away to escape the busy everyday and enjoy quality time away.

‘Whether you opt for a city skyline or secluded green space, there are plenty of idyllic spots to enjoy. It’s important not only on Valentine’s Day but throughout the year to experience new destinations with a partner and enjoy what the UK really has to offer.’
