We all have a special fragrance that reminds us of a certain time, or even a certain someone. Many of us have a signature perfume that we’ve stayed loyal to for as long as we can remember; be it because it reminds us of a fond memory or because we’re simply obsessed with the scent (guilty). But what’s the one fragrance we can’t get enough of as a nation?
The experts at OnBuy.com have analysed the data and revealed that the most popular fragrance of the year so far is *drum roll* – Chanel’s Coco Mademoiselle Intense.
For those who aren’t familiar with the classic perfume, it is made up of fruity citrus top notes of orange, lemon and lime, and middle notes of rose and jasmine which are sat on a base of patchouli, musk, vanilla and Tonka bean. And before you ask, yes it does smell as delicious as it sounds.
While this may not come as a complete surprise (Chanel are known for their amazing ability to create popular fragrances, after all), the research by OnBuy.com did reveal some other interesting results about our perfume preferences.
After pulling data from 517,778 fragrance lovers on perfume encyclopaedia Fragrantica, they found that 60% of our favourite fragrances in 2018 are from France. They also revealed that 20% more of this year’s new perfumes have sweet accords compared to 2017.
Other fragrances that made the 2018 list include Guerlain, who had two perfumes feature in the top 10 including their Météorites scent, which was right behind Chanel’s Coco Mademoiselle Intense at second place, and Mon Guerlain Florale fragrance which was placed at number eight. Meanwhile, Lancome’s La Nuit Trésor à la Folie came in at number three, and the widely popular Flowerbomb Nectar from Viktor&Rolf was placed at number four, and Theirry Mugler’s Alien Flora Futura came fifth.
Dolce & Gabbana’s Dolce Garden at number six and Gucci Guilty Absolute was voted 7th. As for the bottom two spots within the top ten, they were filled by Sorbetto Rosso by Escada (at number nine), and Nomade by Chloe scored 10th place.
