At this point, many of us are booking our holidays based on which destination has the best Airbnbs.
We’ll be the first to admit that a luxury Airbnb offering can be just as desirable as visiting a holiday resort or hotel (if not more), and while we have plenty of properties on our wishlist – be it exotic mansions on tropical islands or beautiful Asian villas for as little as £10 per night – there’s one particular house that has officially become the most popular Airbnb in the world.
According to the holiday rental site, a unique property in California named ‘The Mushroom Dome’ has consistently been the most visited and the most popular listing on the entire website throughout its ten years of existence.
The cute cabin, which is priced at just £100 per night, is tucked away in the woods of Aptos, California and was the first property outside of a city to be listed on Airbnb. Since opening their doors to guests in 2009, hosts Kitty and Michael have had nearly 1,300 reviews from guests all over the world – the majority of which have been positively glowing.
As stated in the listing, the property is situated on 10 acres next to land without fences, meaning guests can enjoy the breathtaking nature California is known and loved for. In fact, they can indulge in everything from a hike in the woods to simply hanging out on the deck, watching the hummingbirds or petting the friendly goats.
And if that didn’t sound great enough, there are two beaches located just ten minutes away from the house, while the Aptos Village where you’ll find a variety of shops and restaurants is also quite close.
Additionally, those who’d like a bit more of a city experience can simply drive 20 minutes downtown to visit the nearby Santa Cruz – though if you’ve watched Jordan Peele’s critically-acclaimed horror film, Us, you might not be so keen.
