This is officially the most Instagrammable village in the UK

With summer holidays all but a distant dream by now, staycations are firmly on the cards for the rest of 2020. Any previous thoughts of far-flung exotic locations have been replaced by UK destinations, but that doesn’t mean your Instagram game need suffer.

We all love to get a good Insta photo or two while we’re away (have you even been on holiday if it’s not on the grid?), but we often forget that humble Britain boasts a plethora of picturesque towns and villages that are only too worthy of appearing on your timeline. With that in mind, Bankrate took to Instagram and assessed which out of 100 rural locations dotted around the UK can boast the highest number of hashtags, thus a pretty good indicator of which are the most ‘Instagrammable’.

From the tip of Scotland to every nook and cranny of Cornwall, they’ve narrowed it down to the 20 prettiest villages worthy of your next staycation – and maybe even your next property search.

Taking the top spot is the stunning harbour village of Clovelly in Devon – and a quick search of #Clovelly on Instagram proves why. Cobbled streets, charming cottages and a sea view from every corner, it’s clear why there’s nearly 135k images of the coastal village on the social media platform.

Following not far behind in second place is Portmeirion, a Welsh village with over 114k Instagram hashtags. While the small village is indeed enchanting with it’s colourful houses and Italian-influenced style, the village is also the namesake for a popular pottery company, images of which flood the hashtag and have no doubt helped boost it up the charts.

The third most Instagrammable village is Castle Combe, which resides within the Cotswolds Area of Natural Beauty. This quintessentially British village is seemingly frozen in time, with it’s stone cottages, meandering river and valley views; you’ve very likely scrolled past pictures of your friends posed along the riverside here.
