While Christmas is all about eating, drinking and spending quality time with your loved ones, it can be quite the challenge for those who are hosting the special day. From decorating your home, to cooking up the festive feast, it’s a big job.
Luckily, Morrisons has just made the cooking part a whole lot easier by launching a new three-course Christmas dinner pasty. Yes, you read that right.
Inspired by Cornish tin miners, the new pasty is available from Morrisons Pie Shop counters for just £2.50 and as the title suggests, it’s a combination of three classic Christmas foods all-in-one.
To start with, diners are treated to the classic combination of Ardennes pâté, sweet apple chutney and Melba toast.
Once you’ve enjoyed that, it’s time to get your teeth stuck into the main course which appears a third of the way through the pasty. For this, you’ve got succulent British turkey with sage and onion stuffing, potato, pigs in blankets, cranberries and a creamy sauce.
Now, you might be wondering how a dessert can possibly fit into the same pasty as the aforementioned savoury foods but somehow, the chef’s at Morrisons have made it work. So last but not least, diners can indulge in a rich Christmas pudding with brandy sauce placed in the end of the pasty.
As you can expect, perfecting the pasty wasn’t an easy task, especially with all the different flavours and food textures. In fact, it took the chefs at Morrisons three months to get it right just in time for Christmas.
‘This is the perfect grab and go Christmas dinner… and without any of the washing up!’ said pastries buyer Philippa Shaw.
Sounds like the perfect December dinner alternative for those cold, lazy nights ahead. Although we’re not entirely sure we’d serve it up as the main meal on Christmas Day.
