Mike Tindall just gave a cheeky insight into the royal family WhatsApp group

The British royal family is probably the most monitored family in the world. It’s not every day we find ourselves drawing similarities between our lifestyle and theirs, but there are some things that every family can relate to. It turns out even the royal family can’t resist a WhatsApp group, and Mike Tindall has recently shared an insight into what theirs is like.

Speaking on his podcast The Good, The Bad & The RugbyMike, who’s married to the Queen’s granddaughter Zara, was asked by his co-hosts about the Duchess of Cambridge’s rugby skills. Kate recently became Patron of the Rugby Football League and Rugby Football Union, showcasing her new role on Instagram.

Mike revealed he wanted to find out how Kate did so he could tease her on the family WhatsApp group. Cheeky!

‘I text Ellis [Genge] and said, “Mate, please tell me anything she messed up on” so I could sort of… family WhatsApp group, get to her, and he said, “No she was actually pretty good, and she was really good at kicking,” and I was like [sighs]. But she has this competitive nature,’ Mike said.

This isn’t the first time former rugby player Mike has shared details of the royal family WhatsApp group. In 2018, he revealed to The Mirror that the younger royals used the app to keep in touch about wedding plans for Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, and Princess Eugenie and Jack Brooksbank, as well as the Duchess of Cambridge’s third pregnancy.

‘Me, my brother and then a few of Zara’s side like her brother Pete and the cousins are on WhatsApp groups,’ he said. In May 2019, Mike also said that Prince Harry had used the cousins’ Whatsapp group to announce his son Archie’s birth.

We can only hope Mike reveals what the royals have called their WhatsApp group one day…
