Fancy a flutter? Boots is here to help. American brand Velour Lashes, which Meghan Markle reportedly wore on her wedding day, has landed in store just in time for party season.
According to multiple outlets – not to mention the royal style blog Meghan’s Mirror – the Duchess of Sussex achieved her elegant wide-eyed look with a set of the line’s Whispie Me Away lashes, a cult bestseller that gives subtle volume and lift without looking overdone.
Velour Lashes are already a big hit in the US, where they’ve also been spotted on celebrities including Beyoncé and Kate Upton, and now Boots has brought them to the high street, priced at £24.
But before you write that off as too steep, you should know that these aren’t just any old falsies: each cruelty-free pair, made from ethically-sourced materials such as synthetic silk, lasts for up to 20 applications. So if you’re the kind of person who only wears them for special occasion, you could invest in one pair a year and still probably have wears to spare.
Plus, the various shapes and styles are already racking up hundreds of five-star reviews from customers who call them ‘simply the best’ they’ve ever tried.
‘The lashes are absolutely beautiful and soft!’ exclaimed one happy purchaser. ‘I usually have to take lashes off a few hours into wearing them because it would feel heavy on my eyes. Not with these – I can wear them comfortably all through the day.’
Meghan herself appears to have been a fan of the Velour collection since 2015, when she interviewed her go-to MUA Daniel Martin (who did her bridal beauty look using Dior products) about his favourite products for her now-defunct lifestyle blog, The Tig.
‘I have to admit, I was never really into mink lashes until I found these,’ Daniel apparently said at the time.
‘This brand in particular has a great selection that really offers the best fit and style for your eye shape. The Whispie Me Away lashes are my favorite! They add medium volume, so they have a much more realistic look as opposed to an overdone one, and they sit comfortably for hours on the lash line.’
Well, if they’re good enough for royalty…
