Meghan Markle always carries this £3 product while travelling

Meghan Markle has had quite the whirlwind life for the last 12 months. Since announcing her engagement to Prince Harry back in November 2017, she’s transformed her career from actress to philanthropist, tied the knot and officially become the Duchess of Sussex, revealed the happy news that she’s pregnant, and at present, is undertaking her first ever overseas royal tour.

Parents-to-be Harry and Meghan are currently travelling around Australia, and will soon move on to visit New Zealand, Fiji and Tonga as part of their official duties. And, based on an interview the duchess gave to Allure magazine before her schedule got quite so busy, we know at least one essential item that she’s definitely packed in her suitcase for the trip.

‘I can tell you the most honest answer because I literally got off of a plane yesterday after a five-hour flight and I leave tomorrow to go to Toronto,’ Meghan said at the time, when asked by the title about her travel beauty essentials.

‘The one thing that I cannot live without when I’m traveling is a small container of tea tree oil. It’s not the most glamorous thing, but if you get a cut, a mosquito bite, a small breakout, no matter what it is, it’s my little cure-all. It’s inexpensive, it’s small enough to carry on, and I bring it with me all the time.’

Superdrug

100% Pure Tea Tree Oil, £2.99, Superdrug

Tea tree oil is known for its versatility thanks to its antiseptic, antibacterial and antiviral properties, so as Meghan points out, it’s the perfect multi-tasker to choose when you’re pressed for time and space.

The former Suits star didn’t disclose the brand of tea tree oil that she favoured, but prices for popular products like Superdrug’s Pure Tea Tree Oil start from just £2.99, so it’s certainly not an expensive tip to take. Plus, when it comes in a bottle that holds just 10ml, you’ll have no trouble getting it through security in your carry-on!
