Jodie Comer just wore this £6 mascara to the BAFTAs

We are all on the hunt for that perfect mascara. Getting beautifully fanned out, long, voluminous lashes is at the top of the list for most beauty fans, and mascara has quickly become a desert island must-have product.

But the search for your dream mascara usually takes a lifetime, and you have to try a lot of duds before you find your Prince Charming of mascaras.

Maybelline’s Falsies Lash Lift Mascara, however, may be just what you’ve been waiting for. The mascara made major waves in the beauty community when it launched last year, with many claiming it to be one of the best formulas they’ve ever tried (including our very own Edwina Ings-Chambers). So successful was it, in fact, that it became one of the bestselling mascaras of the year last year, according to the brand, and currently holds the top spot in Amazon’s Mascara category.

Among other things, perhaps the best news about this mascara is that it’s super affordable, with a ‘why not’ RRP of £9.99 – and currently it’s on sale for just £5.50 on Amazon (where it gained those nearly 6,000 five-star reviews). You can also pick it up at Boots online and in stores for the full price.

So what exactly is so special about it? Well, as its name suggests, Maybelline has created this one in order to replicate the effects of having a lash lift, but without the expense and time that takes. It has a double-curved lifting brush and fibre-infused, all-day formula, made up of hairstyling polymers and flexible film formers that carry great hair adhesive properties to help stretch, lift and hold lashes.

In order to test the mascara, Maybelline had women try the product and then have a lash lift, taking pictures to compare the two. A nationally representative sample of UK women (480 in total) came to the conclusion that ‘lashes look better than a salon lash lift.’

Fans on Reddit have been raving about the product, with one writing that, ‘it defines, volumizes and holds a curl like waterproof mascara does,’ before adding that ‘it’s a great everyday mascara.’

And, earlier this week, none other than Killing Eve‘s Jodie Comer wore the mascara to the BAFTAs. Comer’s MUA, Alex Babsky, shared a breakdown of her look on Instagram and cited the Maybelline mascara for her sky-high lashes. The celebrity seal of approval if ever we saw it!
