Fancy getting two coats for the price of one? Well, thanks to Marks & Spencer, that dream just became a reality, with the arrival of a pair of reversible new season coats that give you multiple, completely different looks for one reasonable price.
The most recent drop for you to check out (literally) is the Wool Checked Reversible Overcoat, which landed on the M&S website this week. It’s a flippable combination of classic plaid and on-trend light tan, and will look great layered over almost anything, from flowing midi dresses to sharp tailoring.
Styled by insider @marksandspencer_charlotte and featured on the brand’s social feeds soon afterwards, we’d imagine it’s already sparked copycat purchases across the country.
But it’s not the only reversible coat that’s getting some serious online attention right now.
Earlier this month, a rust and blush version was highlighted by Instagram style icon Erica Davies, who has teamed up with M&S to share her favourite A/W 19 buys with her followers, and wrote a glowing review of the coat – along with a series of seriously stunning #OOTD photos – on her account.
‘I didn’t want to select anything that was too “statement,” rather stick to useful pieces in similar tones and prints that layer well together,’ she said of the fabulous find.

Good things come in two (colours). Say hello to the fully reversible Autograph wool overcoat that's perfect for autumn. As worn by @erica_davies, its oversized proportions and slouchy fit tick all the style boxes this season, while its pink or red shade can match both the rest of your outfit or your mood. Tap to shop.
‘The blush pink, browns and rusts all feel autumnal, but what REALLY sold me this wool coat as a pick was the fact it’s reversible. So you can have the blush pink side, but if you fancy a change, turn it inside out and go for the rust. More bang for your buck – and way more potential outfit possibilities!’
Commenters on the post fell in love with the two-for-one concept just as quickly as Erica has, with one exclaiming: ‘The coat is so gorgeous & very useful … two for the price of one!’
‘That’s a great coat. I loved both colours but really it’s a BOGOF,’ another agreed, while a third added: ‘Omg I am buying this coat straight away! Another fantastic piece of clothing I have been fully influenced to buy by your insanely fab style!’
And it’s not just Erica who’s showing off the style online – @marksandspencer_charlotte has also already snapped this one up too, and as we know, where the insiders go, a flurry of sales will generally follow.

It’s September & almost Autumn so definitely coat season has started ( or at least can be thought about 😉). This is always when the gorgeous coats start to come out & this fab version gets your two coats for the price of one as it is REVERSIBLE!! I love the rust & blush pink colours, the large patch pocket, the over-sized feel ( size down as it comes up big) & the single button fastening. I’ve seen this styled incredibly today by @erica_davies so check out my stories to see how she’s worn it & let me know how you’d style it? The Split Wool Overcoat retails for a slightly less expensive £119 – still a premium price, but with two ways to wear, your cost per wear will soon be small.
The line comes in sizes 6-22, but reviewers say that it runs bigger than most, so if you’re torn between two, we’d suggest sizing down.
Is it wrong to wish that winter weather was here already?
