As far as prints and patterns go, polka dots are a staple in any timeless capsule wardrobe (just ask the Duchess of Cambridge). So it comes as no surprise that a versatile and supremely affordable pair of dotty culottes from Marks & Spencer is proving to be in extremely high demand.
After dropping on the M&S website earlier this summer, the £19.50 Polka Dot Wide Leg Cropped Trousers, which are available in two different colourways, sold out almost instantly, shopped and loved by customers and the brand’s own Insider influencers.
This week, the store then took to its Instagram account to announce an eagerly anticipated restock, warning ‘they won’t hang around for long’ – and this prediction proved entirely correct, with the comment section overflowing with customers asking if there’ll be a third round made available.
‘Love these but out of stock in my size already in both colours. Will you get more in?’ asked one poster, while another echoed: ‘Out of stock already and unable to buy in local M&S for my daughter! Will they be getting any more stock in?’

If you too have loved and lost out on the M&S polka dot culottes thus far, all is not lost, as a representative has responded saying that they’ll be back at the beginning of August. There’s also the possibility of online returns, so bookmark the page and return to it often, and you may see that the coveted trousers are suddenly back in your size.
The fortunate shoppers who managed to race to the tills and get their hands on a pair say they really are worth the chase – ‘I bought these online, so was worried about sizing, but they were a great fit. Very flattering and comfortable,’ writes one 5-star reviewer on the M&S website. ‘I really like them and have recommended to friends and family.’
‘These cropped trousers were delivered very quickly and I was not disappointed,’ agreed another. ‘Lovely lightweight material, perfect for summer when you don’t want to wear shorts. Perfect length (I’m 5’5″). They have pockets too which is excellent.’
With their high waisted fit, breezy wide-cropped leg silhouette and eternally chic fabric, there’s basically no occasion that these trousers won’t work for, regardless of the colour you choose. We’re bookmarking the page now and marking our calendars for 1st August – fingers crossed it’ll be third time lucky!
