Ever the style icon, Meghan Markle stepped out in yet another on-point outfit last week for her visit to a school in Dagenham to celebrate International Women’s Day, which occurred on Sunday 8th March.
The outfit consisted of cropped skinny black trousers and a plain white tee, but what we’re really lusting after is the ultra chic cream boucle jacket she topped her outfit off with. The jacket is from luxury designer ME+EM, but bears a price tag of a slightly eye-watering £295. Lucky for us, M&S just so happen to have an extremely similar looking jacket at a much more reasonable £89.
Featuring the same fitted silhouette, raw edge hems and soft cream colour, you’d be hard to tell these two jackets apart at first glance. The biggest difference is that the ME+EM design features matching buttons, while the M&S version is decorated with shiny gold buttons, but we think these bring an added level of class and elegance to the jacket.
With it’s military-esque style and sharp lines, this is a truly versatile piece that would work on top of a multitude of outfits. For the weekend we’d use it to elevate a pair of lightwash blue jeans, low heel mules and a plain t-shirt a la Meghan, but you could just as easily throw it on top of a sheer pastel blouse and pencil skirt or sharp tailored trousers and it would equally make a smart workwear outfit.
Its lightweight style makes it the perfect investment for spring, and its classic, timeless silhouette means it will never go out of style and can be worn season after season.
Meghan paired hers with tan and black court heels and a slouchy matching cream handbag, but the netrual cream tone means brightly coloured accessories would look just as good.
The M&S jacket is still available in most sizes, but once Meghan wears something we all want to emulate her style, so we’d suggest acting fast to bag yours.
