There are few things quite as glorious as finding the perfect dupe for a designer buy on the high street – especially when the designer buy is as iconic as a great pair of shoes, or a cult handbag. And luckily for us, Marks & Spencer has answered our prayers with both.
Not only has the high street hero provided us the perfect dupe for Chanel’s £650 contrast-toe slingbacks in recent months, it just dropped a gorgeous saddle bag on its website that’s strikingly similar to the Chloé Tess style.
For those who aren’t familiar, the Tess is one of Chloé’s most recognised – and coveted – bags. The leather and suede design features a wide shoulder strap and slim top handle, plus a signature gold ring at the front. There’s an array of colours to choose from, but one of the most popular is the classic tan.
It also happens to retail for a pretty eye-watering £1,250.
But if your intake of breath was as sharp as ours upon reading that number, fear not, because Marks & Spencer’s Saddle Cross Body Bag bears more than a passing resemblance to the accessory, for a tiny fraction of the price.
While it’s not an exact match, M&S’s affordable bag does borrow some of the Tess’s chicest features, including the double handles and that all-important gold ring detailing on the straps and front flap.
The brand describes it as an ‘elegantly curved design offering a distinctly Western flair, with standout stitching and metallic gold accents’ – it’s a wearable piece that can be thrown on with dresses, used to dress up jeans or even carried to the office. There’s even a black version if you prefer a monochrome palette.
So, if you’ve lusted after Chloé’s much pricier beauty but never quite had the budget, you may just have discovered the next best thing!
