What would you rather spend on a new pair of shoes – £40, or hundreds of pounds? Yes, us too – which is why we’re so pleased that our high street hero Marks & Spencer has brought us the look of shoes with the higher price point for much, much less.
The slingbacks in question are strikingly similar to Chanel’s iconic goatskin and grosgrain pumps, which feature a mid heel with nude leather and a contrasting black almond toe. The designer version, however, will set you back £650, while M&S’s dupe pair are priced at just £39.50.
The leather footwear is currently available on the Marks & Spencer website, in both the Chanel-esque nude mix colourway and a classic navy version, which is just as chic. Some sizes, however, are already marked as out of stock, so you may have to try your luck in store if that’s the case for your preferred fit.
While they don’t have the sparkling addition of that desirable Chanel logo, the Marks & Spencer shoes do have the same classic shape, two-tone shade and fit of the more expensive slingbacks, and are just as universally wearable.
‘Just as suited to a pair of jeans as they are to workwear, these block heels are a stylish and versatile pick,’ M&S proudly states on the product listing.
They also come with the store’s signature Insolia technology, which means the ultimate in comfort and support despite the mid-heel height. And whether you wear them to the office or on a night out, with denim or drapery, they’ll provide the perfect finishing touch.
A design this classic isn’t going to date anytime soon, so we can see these becoming a valuable addition to our wardrobes for years to come. And who knows, maybe one day we’ll be able to afford the Chanel ones too…
