Kim Kardashian’s make-up artist says this is the key to great skin in your 40s

If Kim Kardashian is the queen of flawless make-up, her go-to make-up artist, Mario Dedivanovic, is surely the king. Kim, 38, has worked with the beauty guru for more than a decade, and says that ‘everything I’ve learned about make-up has come from Mario’.

With more than 5.7 million followers on Instagram and a loyal base of celebrity clients, Mario certainly knows a thing or two about working on a range of faces – so when he gives advice for how to look great into our 40s and beyond, we’re going to sit up and listen.

Speaking during a recent interview with New Beauty, Mario said that his best tip for women in their 40s was to ‘use lifting products like lifting concealers and things that won’t settle into lines.’

‘Cut back on the powder,’ he advised. ‘When you’re super young, you can handle more powder where it doesn’t look like you’re wearing much, but the older you get the powder looks super heavy and dry because you lose the moisture in your skin as you age.’

As for the products you should be using? Mario swears by Laura Mercier Flawless Fusion Ultra-Longwear Concealer ‘because it’s one of the only concealers that doesn’t settle into lines which is amazing.’

‘Especially for women who need coverage, they need to put a decent amount of concealer on [to get results] but then it gets into the lines,’ he added. ‘This one is perfect because it smooths over the skin without settling it. Just remember to really blend. I like to blend with a damp BeautyBlender and then pat with a loose powder to set it.’

At £24, the Laura Mercier concealer is an investment purchase, but seeing as it’s good enough for Kim K’s not-so-secret weapon – and carries average of 4.5 out of 5 star reviews on Space NK’s website – it might well be worth the price tag…
