Whether 2020 has seen you working from home all year, boosted your interest in exercise (even if simply through a lack of anything else to do) or you’ve become better acquainted with your sofa than ever before, the unofficial uniform for all of these activities is surprisingly similar. Activewear, leisurewear, loungewear – call it what you want, as long as it features a significant amount of elastane, we’re on board.
So it’s no surprise that our favourite high street brands are picking up on the activewear trend: first Cos launched their first foray into the stretchy scene, followed closely by Boden’s debut activewear offering – even Zara’s new lingerie line includes several pieces that cross over into leisurewear territory.
And now Mango’s jumping aboard the elastane train with its first ever activewear range and – spoiler alert – it’s really nice. With a muted colour palette of dusty teal, mauve, peach and nude, the collection is full of easy to wear activewear basics that we’d be just as comfortable in out on a run or on the yoga mat as we would sat at our makeshift WFH set-up or slobbing on the sofa.
Think long-sleeved cropped tops, full-length leggings with thick, wide waistbands, supportive sports bras and cropped sweatshirts, all in a thick, high-quality ribbed fabric that will add the necessary extra touch of style to our living room workouts. There are also some bodies, shorts and a sweet ballet wrap top that has us wanting to perfect our pliés. Some pieces feel more loungewear than activewear, such as the cardigans, knitted shorts and bra sets, but that’s exactly what our wardrobes need right now.
Mango hasn’t held back on the accessories front, either – mat covers, (ingenious) wireless headphone chains, belt bags (perfect for long runs), socks and more all feature in the same gorgeous colour palette.
The Mango Activewear collection is available to shop online and in stores now. Here are 10 pieces from the new collection that we think you should shop now before they’re gone.
