Karl Lagerfeld’s cat Choupette has branched out into the world of pet furniture

When former Chanel creative director Karl Lagerfeld passed away in February 2019, it was a loss felt deeply by the fashion world. But amidst the grief, perhaps the question that emerged from our lips more than any other during that period was simply ‘what will become of Choupette?’

Lagerfeld’s blue-cream tortie Birman cat had become a celebrity in her own right, with almost 50,000 Twitter followers and the likely title of richest feline in the world, given that it was reported that he left her some of his estimated $200m in his estate.

However, despite being the literal physical incarnation of the phrase ‘glamour puss’, it would appear that Choupette is not one to sit back and rest on her paws into early retirement. In fact, she’s just taken her career to a whole new level by partnering with German designer cat furniture brand LucyBalu to launch an exceptionally luxurious cat hammock.
