If you’re not yet convinced by the trend for all things ruffled, presenter Lorraine Kelly has picked out the perfect dress from Zara which proves that subtle ruffling can be incredibly flattering and needn’t feel too OTT.
The pale pink floral pattern – with flashes of yellow – gives the dress a romantic feel but the diagonal ruffled trims, along with the dropped waistline and asymmetric hem, gives the dress a trend-led edge. Retailing for £79.99 the dress is currently still available online at zara.com in sizes XS through to XL. The puffed sleeves and V-neck make it an ideal choice for a smart-but-summery daytime outfit.
While Lorraine paired her dress with pointed nude courts from Office (a favourite with fellow presenter Holly Willoughby, too) the model on Zara’s site is styled with white ankle boots for a more cool and casual vibe.
It’s not the first time that Lorraine has championed Zara, either. Last week, a high-waisted midi skirt that she wore had viewers flocking to the retailer’s website to snap up the £29.99 bargain.
The 58-year-old presenter’s daily #OOTD posts on Instagram are fast becoming the ultimate shopping inspiration for her 139K followers, with Lorraine picking out some of the best gems on the high street to wear on her ITV show. But she’s not concerned with how many ‘likes’ an outfit gets: ‘One of the few consolations of growing older is that you have far more self-confidence than when you were young,’ Lorraine told YOU in an interview earlier this year.
‘There’s something liberating about not caring what the world thinks of you; these days there are so many people waiting to take offence that it could drive you crazy. I would hate to be a young woman these days with the pressures of social media and the distortions of filters and airbrushing. It’s so superficial.’
And as for her own style icons? ‘Helen Mirren for her elegance. RuPaul for sheer magnificence.’
