Lorraine Kelly is one of our favourite TV fashion icons, and with a dedicated audience of 255k Instagram followers hanging on her every purchase, it’s safe so say that the presenter has well and truly found her groove when it comes to personal style.
However, if you’ve ever admired Lorraine’s looks but felt you could never pull them off yourself, she’s got some words of wisdom for you that might just change your whole wardrobe philosophy.
When asked by Good Housekeeping for her top dressing tips, Lorraine, who will celebrate her 60th birthday this November, replied: ‘I always say to people that it doesn’t matter what age you are, don’t be frightened to go into shops that you think are for 18 or 19-year-olds.
‘Of course, you’re not going to go for the cutting-edge fashionista silliness, but you might find a skirt, dress, top or a T-shirt,’ the star explained. ‘You can just wear what suits you and what you feel happy and comfy in.’ Amen to that.
Lorraine is also known for championing a great high-street piece – in recent weeks she’s been seen on screen in brands including Karen Millen, Marks & Spencer, ASOS, New Look and Mango, so you definitely don’t have to spend a fortune to follow in her footsteps.
Just today, for instance, she wore a sunny yellow linen shirt dress from Warehouse, which comes in sizes 8-18 and retails for £56.
The star continued to explain that her work in television had opened up to so many new people and ideas, which she also credited for ‘keeping her young’.
‘I think my job keeps me young because I’m meeting people every single day and doing something different,’ she said. ‘If it’s all about you, and all you are interested in is you, you’re very dull. I want to find out more. The world is huge.’
