London fashion week continued today with plenty more shows and presentations worth talking about. We ran around trying to capture as much of it as possible to report back on so here is our daily round up of the fashion and beauty trends that look set to be big next season.
Three’s a Trend:
It wasn’t just the clothes that were catching our eyes today; statement accessories were seen adorning arms and feet at some of our favourite London Fashion Week shows.
Bright bucket hats at Jasper Conran brought us back to the 90s and were paired with matching coats. Holly Fulton clearly has a plan to expand her brand new accessories range as model after model came out with an embellished number slung over her shoulder – we predict new ‘it’ bag status coming soon! And finally, socks came sparkling at Sibling and shining at Markus Lupfer. No need for them to be considered boring essentials ever again.
Show of the Day:
Our favourite show of the day has to be Emilia Wickstead. A gorgeous grown-up palette of yellow, pink and claret was paired with interesting necklines and flattering fits. You can always count on this elegant designer to keep London Fashion Week classy.
Most Talked About:
Without doubt the most dramatic show of the day was Julien Macdonald. From the cathedral-like venue at One Mayfair to the electric Cîroc blue martinis, sequin clad models (both male and female, making Macdonald one of the first after Burberry and Tom Ford’s announcement – and Michael Kors collection in New York last week – to show both men’s and women’s collections together) to the bride accompanied by two little helpers closing the show. The FROW brimmed with the designer’s celeb pals like Alan Carr and Rochelle Humes but the message was clear – everyone up for a bit of fun is welcome at a Julien Macdonald party!
Perfectly floaty hair was popular at both Julien Macdonald and Emilia Wickstead today – good news for those of us who like to wash and go!
Casually tousled locks and relaxed ponytails with whips and flyways were order of the day, with L’Oreal’s Syd Hayes heard declaring, “we’re really into baby hairs”. This extended to the berry lip that was patted into the lips of Emilia’s models, which were supposed to look softened, as though they might have been kissed.
The graphic eyes of yesterday’s Fyodor Golan girls were similarly seen again at Julien, this time with a big black wing filled in with shadow – a touch of Julien sparkle (of course) added with silver or gold glitter popped into inner corners of eyes.
Travelling in Style:
With the weather getting worse and worse in London we were more grateful than ever to be cruising between shows in our BMW 7 Series, here’s us waiting around for our next show getting a massage in the backseats… (we’re in there, promise!).
