Aldi may have become famous for its surprisingly convincing range of beauty dupes, but now it looks like rival Lidl might be swooping in to take its title.
The purse-friendly supermarket just launched its own version of GHD’s popular straightening brush and while there are plenty of striking similarities between the two products, there is one major difference: the price.
The original, which promises to keep hair looking and feeling shiny and straight without the hassle of your usual straighteners, comes with the hefty price tag of £125. However, Lidl’s version is significantly cheaper at the very humble price of £14.99. Yes, really!
But how similar can it actually be? Well, not only does Lidl’s straightening brush feature a near-identical design (with added rose gold detailing), it’s apparently equipped to offer comparable results.
It works by adding volume and body to hair while the heated prongs straighten, and it even features a ceramic heat pad which is adjustable from 120 to 210 degrees, just like the GHD brush. This means that you can tailor the device to your hair’s sensitivity and bid goodbye to dry ends to boot. Impressive, right? Especially when you consider the inviting price.
However, loyal Lidl fans will know that this isn’t the first time the German supermarket is producing and selling hair styling tools.
Last month, the brand unveiled its incredible collaboration with pop princess Christina Aguilera; a dream team we were all surprised to see, but nevertheless enjoyed very much.
Available in stores now, the dreamy hair tools range is also very affordable, with prices starting from as little as £1.99. It features everything from a £12.99 Iconic hairdryer which is designed to reduce static charge and increase shine and a multi-functional hot air styler for just £17.99, to a rose gold hair brush for just £1.99.
