We all have a favourite perfume that we go back to time and again over the years, however if your preferred scent is a luxury brand or designer one, it might not come in at the most purse-friendly of prices.

That’s where places like Aldi and Lidl come in – both supermarkets have provided us with many a designer perfume dupe over the years for a fraction of the price, from this Lidl perfume that supposedly smells very similar to Lancome’s La Vie Est Belle, to Aldi’s ever-growing line of Jo Malone-inspired fragrances.
And if you’re partial to Dolce & Gabbana’s Light Blue, we have good news for you. A recent discussion on the Extreme Couponing and Bargains UK Facebook group brought to light that a particular Lidl perfume is a dead ringer for D&G’s iconic fresh, fruity and floral perfume.

One shopper recently took to the group to share the news that she’d found a dupe for the designer perfume – that is said to evoke the ‘sensuality of the Mediterranean lifestyle’ – within the aisles of Lidl: ‘I’ve used the original DG light blue perfume for years. I got this today in Lidl £4.99 and it smells exactly the same and lasts all day. Love it’.
The £4.99 Lidl perfume dupe is called Essence Cotton Blue, and even its pale baby blue packaging is reminiscent of Dolce & Gabbana’s Light Blue Eau de Toilette, a 100ml bottle of which has an RRP of £80.

Other members of the group were quick to back up the original poster’s claim: ‘I bought this yesterday too, you would never know it wasn’t the real one..lasts ages too,’ said one.
‘I bought this last year and I can’t tell the difference,’ commented another.
‘I also have this & it’s lovely. Just like D&G at a fraction of the price,’ said another owner of the perfume. Sounds like quite the resounding endorsement to us!
