H&M is, by now, well known for its excellent collaborations, from the much sought after big-name designer collections with Simone Rocha, Stella McCartney, Diane von Furstenberg and more, to the multiple brand collaborations, such as most recently with denim brand Lee.
Now, there’s a new collab to shop from today: lemlem x H&M. Not the first time the two brands have teamed up, lemlem was founded by Ethiopian supermodel, actress and maternal health advocate Liya Kebede and is an artisan-driven collection of women’s, men’s, children’s and home goods made entirely in Africa.
Dropping online at hm.com and in selected H&M stores from today, the collection is an ode to summer. Chic, effortless and fun, bold stripes and dip-dyed colour blocking feature throughout. Full of sunny ice-cream shades, we see lemlem’s signature joyous aesthetic play out across dresses, cover-ups, tops, shorts, trousers swimwear, jewellery and accessories made from traditionally handwoven and sustainable materials.
Liya Kebede says: ‘I love that H&M has always been at the forefront of doing really cool collaborations. So for lemlem, it’s really exciting to be part of that group of brands that they’ve collaborated with. It’s also the first time we have a whole lemlem look, with the jewellery really adding to the feeling and the woman that I want it to look like. My creative direction included the campaign, too, which was so much fun and special because I got to shoot with my daughter.’
Maria Östblom, Head of Design at H&M, has said: ‘With lemlem, you can’t help but notice its ease and elegance, which Liya Kebede obviously and beautifully embodies, too. It was wonderful to have Liya’s creative input at every step in this collaboration. We were also really happy to include more sustainable materials throughout the collection and just can’t wait to launch it around the world.’
