There are some items every person needs in their makeup collection. Whether it’s a Hoola bronzer by Benefit or a YSL under-eye concealer, many makeup icons stand the test of time. And one that undeniably lives in this category is Laura Mercier’s Translucent Loose Setting Powder, which is amazing at reducing shine, setting makeup, and giving an airbrushed effect. So when we heard the brand would be launching an illuminating version of the powder for a different finish, we couldn’t quite contain our excitement.
The product — which launched this week — has already been dubbed a ‘ring light in a jar,’ by some who’ve tried it, as it promises to do everything the original formula does, but with a subtly radiant finish, rather than a matte one.
The Light Catcher Setting Powder is designed to do what its name suggests: catch the light in a flattering way. It uses multidimensional pearl pigments that cleverly contrast to tones in the skin and brighten the complexion as a result, using colour correcting technology.
In addition to these pigments, the product also harnesses the power of an amino acid complex to keep skin soft and conditioned, making it appear healthier on the whole.
Laura Mercier’s newest offering is designed to be used all over the face, as well as just on the high points of the cheekbones, and other areas the light would naturally highlight. It can be applied with a large powder brush or the puff it comes with; both of which provide different effects.
The brand has created three shades in the powder: Celestial Light for fair to light skin tones, Honey Star for medium skin tones and Cosmic Rose for medium-deep to deep skin tones.
All three launched on 13 September and are already available to buy exclusively on LookFantastic. They will then be rolled out nationwide later this month.
