There’s a new Lancôme fragrance coming your way soon: Idôle. It brings with it a new face for the brand: the gorgeous and multi-talented Zendaya. And the juice – the industry word for the fragrance itself – was formulated by three female noses: a group effort for a global offering.
But Idôle brings so much more than all of that, for this is a blockbuster fragrance that has been created with the environment in mind: the bottle is refillable. What a glorious step change for the industry, and an idea that we can only hope all other brands will copy (sorry, pay homage to….by doing the same thing…).
It’s simply to do too and does not involve plastic bags of fragrance you need to decant. All it involves is taking your bottle back to a Lancôme counter where they will refill it for you – re-suing all the same components including the nozzle. How often have you had a fabulous fragrance bottle that you’ve had to just sling in the bin once the contents have been all sprayed out? All too often is the answer.
And though some more niche brands offer refills to have such a well-established names as this created such an innovative and environmentally-friendly service is a major good news day. So a big beauty bravo to Lancôme.
The bottle itself is also different. Very different. It’s slim, sleek – and looks very like your android phone. Lancôme want it to feel – and to be – portable, something anyone can just slip into a pocket or a small bag and be able to spritz on the go.
And what about the fragrance itself? Well, as you might expect from this French house which has the rose as its symbol, it’s a very pretty, charming and floral affair with notes of Rose petal of Isparta (a special rose essences made exclusively for Lancôme), Jasmine from India as well as patchouli, cedar and vanilla.
Alas, we’ll all have to wait until 14 August until this fragrance is available nationwide (from £48 for 25ml and at lancome.co.uk).
