If crafting had a queen, Kirstie Allsopp would wear the crown. In addition to her career as a property expert, fronting shows like Location, Location, Location, the star has become a household name for her DIY designs, with the name ‘Kirstie’ becoming synonymous in the nation’s minds with the word ‘handmade’.
Now, it’s easier than ever to take a leaf out of her (bespoke, handcrafted) book, as she’s put her name to a collection of crafting kits from none other than budget supermarket Aldi, just in time for the festive season.
There are three gifting options to choose from – a bath bomb kit, which includes everything you need to make four strawberry-scented spheres, a soap making kit with a green tea fragrance, and a lip balm kit infused with beeswax and shea butter. Whether you decide to make the boxes up yourself and give them as gifts or simply gift the kit, however, is entirely a matter of personal choice…
And the fun doesn’t stop there – Kirstie has also created wreath-making kits, with an array of foliage and berries to brighten up your front door or mantlepiece (plus pom pom and felt poisettia versions for those who like a more contemporary take).
If you’ve watched Kirstie’s Handmade Home, Kirstie’s Handmade Christmas and Fill Your Home For Free, amongst various other Channel 4 programmes that Kirstie has hosted, you’ll know that she’s a dab hand with a project in front of the camera, and she insists that she’s just as keen behind-the-scenes too.
Speaking during an interview with Liz Earle’s Wellbeing magazine, she admitted previously: ‘I’ll know when life has calmed down when I have just one new-from-scratch craft project on the go. Most of the time, I’m mending and maintaining!’
