One bottle of Kiehl’s Calendula toner sells every 12 seconds

Cleanse, tone, moisturise. It’s a mantra you’ve probably followed for years. But did you know that there’s on particular toner that’s so in demand that one bottle sells every 12 seconds?

Speaking to American magazine Allure, Kiehl’s confirmed that their iconic Calendula Alcohol-Free Toner sells an impressive five bottles per minute – and is particularly popular in Asia, where it has been dubbed ‘magic water’.

‘In 2017, inspired by customer requests, we introduced our Calendula & Aloe Soothing Hydration Mask,’ a spokesperson for the brand told the title. ‘This resulted in one of our most successful launches to date in Asia and created a halo effect on our Calendula Toner.’

So what’s so special about the Kiehl’s Calendula toner formula? The naturally derived skincare is made with whole flowers and pure extracts from calendula (that’s marigold, for the less-than-green fingered), teamed with allantoin to reduce inflammation and great burdock, which is especially good for dry skin.

It even comes with the Kiehl’s Healthy Skin Promise, which means that if you don’t see healthier skin in 28 days you can request your money back – although judging from the reviews on the Kiehl’s site, it’s unlikely that this will be the case.

‘My absolute favourite toner. Balances my skin perfectly with out drying it out,’ wrote one fan of the product. ‘Although it is a bit pricey a little really does go a long way (I transfer mine into a spray bottle to make it go further and evenly distribute the product).’

‘I absolutely love the way it makes my skin feel, and it makes such a difference to the way my skin looks too,’ another agreed. ‘I had horrible acne in my twenties, requiring heavy medication, and now my skin can be prone to oiliness. This products calms it right down, gets rid of any redness, and allows me to moisturise and keep my skin hydrated without breaking out.’

Believe the hype? You can invest in a bottle of your own from the Kiehl’s website, priced £35 for 200ml.
