The midi dress Kate wore to the polo was actually a high street find

Our collective hearts were warmed yesterday as pictures emerged of the Cambridge and Sussex families enjoying a day out at a charity polo match.

Kate and Meghan were at the event to support husbands Princes William and Harry as they took part in the King Power Royal Charity Polo Day, with Prince George, Princess Charlotte, Prince Louis and little baby Archie Harrison in tow. And while much of the attention was of course, on their adorable brood, we couldn’t help but notice a few fashion details too.

New mum Meghan wore a relaxed-fit khaki shirt dress by designer Lisa Marie Fernandez and chic sunglasses for the occasion, while Kate chose a pink angel-sleeved midi dress.

At first glance, many royal watchers assumed this was also a designer buy, but it turns out it’s actually a piece from one of Kate’s favourite high-street stores, L.K. Bennett, and was even once available to buy at John Lewis & Partners.

Sadly for us, the Silk Madison Dress appears to be previous season stock – it’s now unavailable in all sizes, and the website states that the store is unlikely to receive any more of the item. But brands do often make dresses in similar silhouettes with new prints and patterns in their drops, so if you want to get the Kate look, you at least know where to look.

Plus, L.K. Bennett’s summer sale is now on, so if you’re quick enough, you may be able to get a slice of royally-approved style for even less.

Kate’s ongoing affinity with the luxe line has always been well-documented – she’s worn everything from dresses to coats to shoes from the label over the years, and its nude ‘Sledge’ court were one of her signature wardrobe staples for years.

However, for the polo she reverted back another old favourite – her Castañer Campesina espadrille wedges, which both she and Meghan own and wear often, and are priced from just £80. Another regal bargain!
