It’s not often jobs come up that involve working closely and personally with senior royals, but one such opportunity has recently arisen, with the Duchess of Cambridge currently on the hunt for a new personal assistant.
The official job title is Personal Assistant to the Assistant Private Secretary to HRH The Duchess of Cambridge, and top-line duties include managing diaries, arranging meetings internally and externally and being one of the main points of contact for those seeking time with the Duchess.
The official job description reads: ‘The Household of TRH The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge supports the official and charitable work of Their Royal Highnesses.
‘This is an exciting opportunity to join our PA team in support of the Assistant Private Secretary to HRH The Duchess of Cambridge (APS). This role will provide wide-ranging administrative and operational support to the Assistant Private Secretary.’
The role involves helping out Kate Middleton’s personal assistant in a high-pressure environment with lots of important responsibilities, including acting as TRH ‘front-line representative’, monitoring all incoming correspondence via email and telephone and managing regular meetings and taking minutes at said meetings.
It’s also expected that the successful candidate will provide support the to Events & Visits team, which could include organising travel requirements and making the relevant preparations for visits and events.
Hopeful candidates are expected to have previously secretarial and administrative experience, excellent IT skills (including 60wpm accurate typing), as well as top-notch organisational and communication skills.
With one of the most high-profile women in the country as your boss, candidates should be able to work under pressure and to strict deadlines, to use initiative and plan ahead, as well as have meticulous attention to detail.
