There’s nothing that fills us with more joy than when our favourite style icons wear a high street look that we can actually afford to copy – until said look goes into the sale, that is.
Kate Middleton’s gorgeous & Other Stories midi dress, which she wore for the official Cambridge family pictures taken in the RHS Back To Nature garden she designed for Chelsea Flower Show, is the perfect example.
The easy, breezy style was priced at less than £100 and ticked all of our summer style boxes – perfect sleeves, ideal length, beautiful print and more. But as you might expect, the Kate effect meant that it sold out almost instantly, leaving many fashion fans heartbroken that they hadn’t managed to add it to their wardrobes.
However, now there’s a new way to get the Kate look, thanks to the & Other Stories sale, where a skirt and top co-ord in the very same fabric are both reduced. The top is down from £79 to £49, while the skirt is £46, cut from £65 – a saving of more than £50 overall.
While it’s not an exact match for Kate’s style, worn together, it’ll be pretty darn close – especially if you team it with the £8 Accessorize earrings she chose for the occasion too. Plus, you can mix and match it with other pieces, making it even more versatile than the original.
And if you really had your heart set on a Kate-inspired dress, rather than a two-piece? There is still a very similar style in stock at the store, albeit a full price one – the Printed Ruffle Bib Midi Dress is £89, but only available in a handful of sizes, so you’ll need to add it to your basket while you still can.
Kate isn’t the only royal fan of the high street brand – sister-in-law Meghan wore a £69 green silk shirt from the shop for a walkbout in Chichester last year. So if you don’t manage to shop Kate’s style this time, keep your eyes peeled for the next time the family step out, because they might just spotlight another amazing affordable find!
