Good Morning Britain presenter Kate Garraway, is the queen of gorgeous day dresses (with sleeves!). Today she showed off another hit – a satin-y striped shirt dress in shades of blue, cream and a hint of aubergine.
While many of Kate’s dresses sell out immediately – like the Julien McDonald number she wore earlier this week – this printed shirt dress (£59.99) from high-street store Mango, is currently still in stock. So get clicking if you want to nab one for your own wardrobe before it’s too late.
With a slight 70s feel, the loose cut, elbow-length sleeves and a side slit hem, the midi length will still feel cool and breezy. (Kate described it on as Instagram as ‘cooling’ – and she’s under the sizzle of bright studio lights, too).
The waist-accentuating tie-up belt is removable for an even looser more relaxed silhouette; as it’s a straight cut style you could even wear it open over a tee and denim cut-offs like a duster jacket.
Printed shirt dress, £59.99, Mango
With the stripe print on an angle, it’s neither too nautical or ‘candy-cane’. The same dress is available in a slightly different colour-way, with mustard yellow accents, although they only have sizes 10 and 12 in stock.
Kate wore her dress with metallic pointed stilettos, but a pair of this season’s must have loafer mules – as seen on Mango’s model – looks cool (and a little comfier). A dress with a strong pattern doesn’t need much in the way of accessorising and Mango has kept the styling simple with a plain white mini-bucket bag (£35.99). We’re pretty enamoured with the models’ asymmetric earrings (£9.99) too.
A midi shirt dress like this is a smart investment: while it feels impossible to imagine it ever being autumn in this heat, it will give you fashion mileage into the start of next season too – just wear with a pair ankle boots.
