After announcing her return to Good Morning Britain last week, Kate Garraway officially got back in the presenting seat alongside co-host Ben Shephard this morning.
Kate had been on hiatus from the show to care for her husband, Derek Draper, who has been in hospital with Covid-19 since late March. However, as she told Piers Morgan and Susanna Reid on Wednesday, ‘Derek would not just be saying come back [to work], he’d be saying, “Why haven’t you done it before?”
‘That would be his priority. My job is to make him feel safe and make them [their children] feel that they have a future and a world and whatever happens with Derek – we hope and believe he can come back to us – but whatever happens they have to feel they have a world. To see me getting on, they’re going to go back to school in September.’
We applaud Kate for her bravery, but we also couldn’t help noticing the gorgeous dress she wore for her official GMB return. A red and white L.K.Bennett number, the dress features a ‘vintage archive candy stripe bow print – a twist on an L.K.Bennett signature motif’. It’s pure silk, so it’s not got the cheapest price tag at £295, but the thirties-style tea dress would make a timeless investment piece for any wardrobe that you could turn to time and again for years to come.
The dress, which falls just above the knee, features short pleated sleeves and a pussy bow tie at the neck that you could wear open or tied for two different looks.
We can imagine wearing it with box-fresh white trainers or minimal leather sandals for a contemporary feel – team with a wide-brimmed straw hat for the perfect picnic or BBQ outfit.
