John Lewis has launched a new homeware collection with Matthew Williamson

John Lewis has partnered with the award-winning British interior designer Matthew Williamson to launch an exclusive new homeware collection this spring, combining natural inspiration with Williamson’s flair for flamboyant, bold design.

Having worked on catwalks across the globe for 20 years, Williamson’s fashion career has informed his latest interior design collection, with eccentric and joyful designs. There are over 90 products, including throws, mirrors, cushions, towels and lamps. With options that range from peacock feather print cushions to twig-style mirrors, the collaboration is created to provide stand-out, bold pieces at affordable prices – which is just what we all need right now.

On the inspiration behind the collection, Matthew says, ‘My starting point was to look at the great outdoors. From majestic peacocks strutting their plumes in the grounds of Holland Park to the quintessential English blooms of a country garden, the collection explores all the wondrous elements found on our doorstep. Be it butterflies fluttering over a floral meadow, or a deep, inky blue starlit night sky, I wanted to capture that feeling of outdoor magic.’

Williamson has been working on this creative venture with John Lewis for the last two years, and has said it enabled him to think in much broader ways about how the home and interior products work together: ‘I want customers to have fun with the collection and mix and match the products in their homes whatever their personal style so they are loved for many seasons to come.’

One of the key elements of the collection was that the department store made sure the designer’s style came at an affordable price – prices range from £16 to £250 – as well as being designed with sustainability and British craftsmanship at the forefront of the collection. All of the cushions and pouffes are filled and finished at Herbert Parkinson, John Lewis’ British based textiles factory, while the bedding sets are packaged in reusable fabric bags.

Camilla Rowe, Head of Buying at John Lewis says ‘We have been thrilled to work so closely with Matthew on designing this collection and inspiring our customers with truly unique and design-led products. This collaboration is very important for us as we continue to build on our ambition and commitment to our customers, to introduce them to new and modern designs with exceptional style, at an affordable price.’

The collection is available online and in stores.
