If you’ve noticed an upward trend in the amount of bunches of dried flowers you’re scrolling past on Instagram and Pinterest lately, you’re not alone. Most likely fuelled by the amount of time we’re spending at home lately, dried flower sales and searches have soared in the past 12 months.
In fact, Etsy reported a 93 per cent increase in searches for dried flowers last year, and John Lewis has already noticed a 20 per cent uptick in ‘dried flowers’ searches just since the start of this year.
So the retailer has responded to those searches with an exclusive collection of dried floral arrangements from ixia Flowers, the RHS Flower Show-winning florist that has been curating beautiful flower boxes and bouquets for over 20 years.
There are currently six different dried bouquets to chose from, with plans to expand the range over the coming weeks. There are three ‘premium’ medium-sized bouquets and three ‘luxury’ larger-sized bouquets to choose from, each with an eclectic and beautiful variety of dried flowers, stems, grasses and foliage.
The natural-toned ‘Whites’ are great for bringing the feeling of calming nature inside, and includes palm spear, natural gypsophila, natural pampas, poppy seed heads and grasses.
Meanwhile, the ‘Mix’ varieties are predominantly blue and lavender-toned (including flowers such as scented lavender, blue phalaris, blue hydrangea and blue delphinium), and the ‘Brights’ are punchy pink and purple arrangements (including pink ruscus, lilac ruscus, lilac sun spear, pink pampas and dried purple statice).
Each arrangement is hand-tied with twine and black silk ribbon, so you can expect a small variation in shade and height of individual arrangements (but this only adds to their uniqueness and beauty).
Sara Albright, partner & gifts buyer at John Lewis says: ‘This is our first exclusive dried flower collection and we are delighted to offer these to our customers. There’s been a growing demand for dried bouquets and we intend to expand this collection as the season progresses and introduce dried wreaths too.’
